Biography

Paulina Dumanaite is a pianist of Lithuanian origin who resides in Barcelona. Despite her youth, in 2018 she was named one of most outstanding one hundred people of Lithuanian descent living abroad.
Her professional career began in the best possible way, since at the tender age of 8 years old, she gave her first recital with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Saulius Sondeckis.
Afterwards she entered the National School of Art in Vilnius, specialized in young talented people.
Following with her academic journey, we must highlight her years at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) studying with Pierre Reach and her Master at the Hochschule für Musik in Basel (Switzerland) with Professor Claudio Martínez-Mehner. Furthermore, she has received advice from D. Bashkirov, F. Rados, B. Berman, R. Gothony, P. Badura-Skoda, Lang Lang and N. Seriogina, among others.
Dumanaite’s versatility, as well as her ability to imbue her performances with her own personal touch, drew the attention of many foundations such as the Mstislav Rostroprovich Foundation, the AIE Foundation and the Anna Riera Foundation, all of which granted her scholarships.
In her performances we can hear a certain evocation of her homeland’s landscapes; her preference for russian music and the special understanding she feels for Chopin’s work, have led her to be awarded by many international contests. Her First Prize at the Contest Ciudad de Albacete (2016) is to be highlighted, along with the Special Prize to the best interpreter of Beethoven and the Special Prize to the best interpreter of Chopin; First Prize at the 6th International Contest Balys Dvarionas, 6th International Piano Contest (Sigulda) and the International Contest of Chamber Music (Vilnius). She won also the Second Prize at the 7th International Contest N. Rubinstein (Paris) and the Musical Contest of France (Paris), in which she was awarded again with the Special Prize to the best interpreter of Chopin.
With regard to her career as a concert pianist, it must be mentioned that she has given recitals as a soloist and with chamber music groups at the Juan March Foundation, at the Piano Festival of Blonay, at the Piano Festival of Castelnaudary in France, at different venues in Lithuania, at the Palau de la Música Catalana and L’Auditori of Barcelona.
In 2019 receives the “Young Music Performer Prize” from the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture.
